Welcome to Unforged Horizons!

Unforged Horizons is a living, breathing, open-world style Dungeons & Dragons community with adventures, settings, and story arcs happening all at the same time. We are a tightly-knit group of over 20 consistent players and 5 experienced Dungeon Masters. Unforged Horizons is a variation of a West Marches style server, combining the elements of a sandbox world with story-driven elements.

Our server is ever-evolving, improving regularly with new content or fine-tuning mechanics to ensure the games are a fun and fair experience for everyone. The server will celebrate its 5th anniversary in July 2026 with both old and new players, and our DMs are always striving to put out the best content. We use Roll20 for game sessions and Chronica for tracking the rest, with a large and well-organized Discord server for 24/7 chat, Roleplay, and community chat. If you have been looking for a place to play a character from start to finish, without the game falling apart, here we are!


About Our Style of Play

An open world to make your mark and tell a story

There is no set play time.
Quests are posted and available for anyone of the appropriate tier to sign up via a system that prioritizes players based on last day played and character role.
There is no regular party outside of story arcs.
Each play session has the potential to have different characters, drawn from the pool of available players. You will play with other characters within your level tier, giving plenty of opportunities to make new friends and foster character relationships. If you are part of a story arc, you will see the same few players more often.
There are multiple stories happening at once.
Players have more freedom to decide where to go and what to do. There is no singular overarching plot, but instead an overarching environment. That being said, the DMs each have story arcs running that may interconnect and provide more content and objectives.
Mostly self-contained sessions, putting you back in town.
Just about every session is entirely self contained. You depart from one of our resident towns, accomplish a task, and return. This allows you to really settle in and establish a home.
It's a living world.
With everyone living within our residential cities, word generally gets round about what happens on most adventures. It's a living world. The same evil wizard cannot be killed by two different groups. Choices matter, and some arcs have world-changing results based on player decisions or accomplishments.

Lore Trading Cards

A fun, interactive way to learn our lore

Unforged Horizones offers an automated online trading card system designed to help you learn our lore while getting to collect and trade beautiful cards with other members. We currently have over 400 cards! There is no requirement to collect the cards if you have no interest to, but it's a very simple and bite-size way to view aspects of old story arcs, places, and more!
